My main focus as a silversmith is to create contemporary, tactile, pieces that are interactive and invite touch.  These pieces are juxtaposed by the use of traditional silversmithing techniques and un-conventional materials. The silverware is inspired or designed around natural rock, usually meaning each piece has a more spontaneous outcome. Each item is bespoke and unlike the next. Recent projects however, have involved machined limestone giving a more calculated result. Having taken a placement at a silversmithing company in Sheffield I was able to learn the traditional basics and apply this knowledge to create unique designs. I use a variety of silversmithing techniques within my work alongside more experimental methods such as scoring, folding, spinning, casting, electroforming and hand raising.

Exploring this theme I seek to create functional silverware for the modern home. My current work features candelabras made from large sculptural pieces of slate, sourced from the slate mines in North Wales, alongside tumblers and fruit bowls inspired by scenic mountain ranges.

I graduated from Sheffield Hallam University having studied BA Hons Jewellery and Metalwork. I am still based in Sheffield on a Silversmithing Starter studio programme at The Yorkshire Artspace, where I will be I will be continuing to develop and progress collections of bespoke silverware. I am available for commission or collaborative work, please find my contact details though my contact page. My work can be seen at various shows and exhibitions throughout the year.
